EHC – Bedford Borough, Central Bedfordshire and Milton Keynes
The PGDs for emergency contraception apply for Community Pharmacists currently registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) who are working in a registered community pharmacy in Bedford Borough, Central Bedfordshire and Milton Keynes. The community pharmacy must also be contracted with Bedford Borough Council in accordance with the Local Enhanced Service commissioned under the Sexual Health Services Contract, for the PGDs to apply.
There are currently two PGDs in operation for the two types of Emergency Contraception. Both PGDs broadly follow the national templates, with some locally agreed amendments. A copy of the national PGD templates can be found via this link, for your information.
An example of the Emergency Contraception client record form for the 3 local authority areas can also be accessed here. Pharmacists are expected to complete the form for all clients aged 13 years and over accessing emergency contraception under the Local Enhanced Service.
