Sexual Health Service

Sexual Health Service is commissioned by Bedford Borough Public Health and Central Bedfordshire Public Health

The PGDs for emergency contraception apply for Community Pharmacists currently registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) who are working in a registered community pharmacy in Bedford Borough, Central Bedfordshire and Milton Keynes. The community pharmacy must also be contracted with Bedford Borough Council in accordance with the Local Enhanced Service commissioned under the Sexual Health Services Contract, for the PGDs to apply.

An example of the Emergency Contraception client record form for the 3 local authority areas can be accessed here. Pharmacists are expected to complete the form for all clients aged 13 years and over accessing emergency contraception under the Local Enhanced Service.

*Please note, due to the expansion of the Pharmacy Contraception Service (PCS), the local EHC contract will finish on 31/3/26, to ensure a smooth transition on to the PCS *
